Auto Insurance Coverage

There are a lot of different types of coverages when buying auto insurance, this article is going to try to help you understand what each type of coverage is. Make sure that the price you are paying is a fixed rate; some companies will only charge you a fraction of what your price will be in a few months. You shouldn’t have to worry about this is you are going with a larger nationwide insurance company.

Bodily Injury and Liability Coverage

This coverage can be found on almost every policy, it is the most basic type of coverage. If you are in an accident, this insurance protects you from any claims that are made against you. If you do not have this coverage, you may be forced to pay out of pocket.

Collision and Comprehensive Insurance

Anything that happens in an accident or wreck is covered by collision insurance. Anything else that happens to your car, is covered by comprehensive coverage. This type of coverage is especially important in areas with weather may cause damage to your car. Comprehensive insurance is not mandatory so if you need to lower your bill, you could drop this coverage. Collision insurance is not required either, but it’s still very important. Most of the damage that occurs on cars is caused by a collision related event.

Underinsured or Uninsured Coverage

An underinsured or uninsured driver is someone who is driving without insurance. If you do not have this coverage, and you get into an accident with an uninsured person you will have to pay out of pocket for your expenses. This coverage is a great way addition to your policy; it could save you a ton of money and problems. Anything extra that you add to your policy it will increase your rates. Shop around and figure out exactly what coverage you need. That way you can compare prices equally across different auto insurance companies
